Petrolea is a company founded three generations ago in 1891. It is currently owned and managed by the third generation of Zarbs.

Since the early days of its inception the Company always prided itself on stocking fine quality merchandise. From fine bone china, crystal ware, top designer Alessi products, giftware, general kitchenware, utensil & appliances, general household plastics, bathroom accessories, outdoor and leisure, to industrial pallet racking and storage shelving.

The range of stocks has evolved following technological trends. initially, Petrolea specialised in the supply of Paraffin heaters and other related items. These high quality and at the time state of the art products, established Petrolea as leader and trendsetter for the supply of such goods. Nowadays, Petrolea has kept in line with the technological improvements and is now supplying products which are turning the "home" into an evolving experience.


Retail Division
As of its inception, Petrolea operated its own retail outlets. The first outlet was situated in Merchant Street, Valletta. This was the Capital's main street for commercial activity. This outlet was the talk of the town for several years and had always been the primary destination for all those client that needed any "Fajjenza" items. Renovated in 1997 and spread over three floors, covering an area of 300sqm, it became one of Malta's top Household/Gift stores. Our logo said it all... "The Shop Worth Visiting".

In 2010, Petrolea was faced with a situation where Valletta was no longer the main centre of commercial activity. This lead to the decision to move from the renowed Store in Merchant Street, to a bigger and more centralised New Showroom in Valley Road, Msida. This new Outlet is more easily accessible, due to extensive Parking facilities and offers the convenience of being open all through the day. At these new premises, one can find the full range of Petrolea Products on display.

To be able to reach a wider spectrum of clientele, about 45 years ago, Petrolea lunched its Wholesale Division.


Wholesale Division
Since 1965, Petrolea established a vast network of associated shops and stores all over Malta and Gozo. Whether Household & Gift shops, Catering establishment, Supermarkets or Hardware stores, merchandise exclusively imported and marketed by Petrolea is available in every town and village of the Maltese Islands making you day to day shopping another Petrolea Experience.

Petrolea has always sought to associate itself with the most efficient and reliable retail outlets, no matter the size or location.

The Wholesale Division operates from a modern complex at Birkirkara (a central location) incorporating a 2500 sq. m wharehouse, showroom and head Office and is serviced by a fleet of 9 vehicles, being delivery vans/trucks and sales representative vehicles.

Our staff compliment of 15 persons is highly qualified to attend to whatever necessities your local shop might require. The experience accumulated by Petrolea's staff, has made it possible to forecast any changes in the business trends and requirements, thus being always one of the first companies to introduce new products.

After 110 years in supplying domestic commodities, we still pride ourselves, as we did in 1900, in offering the best and most modern kitchen and household novelties, while still maintaining our traditional high standard of service to our customers - offering free delivery and personal service to our clients.
